Kimberly Gibbs

My name is Kimberly Gibbs. I'm 30 years old Married with 2 beautiful children, Juliana (2) and Ayden (1). My husband recently got out of the Marine Corps after serving for 13 years. We have gone through deployments, trainings and even a cross country move. The USMC has been very good to us, but it was time for us to move on and start our lives outside of the Corps. We have chosen the beautiful Astoria, OR to plant our family roots. After living so far away from family there is no other place we want to be. I grew up in California and was a paralegal for over 3 years. I am now a housewife and mother. Both of our children were born premature and I wanted nothing more then to be able to spend my time with them and help them grow and learn. I have extensive background working with children and even was a nanny for several years. I believe children learn best from hands on experience. I'm not the type of person to turn on the TV and let children learn from it. Kids learn best by touching and experiencing things on their own (of course with adult supervision). I'm so fascinated with how their little minds work and how excited they get over every new accomplishment. This is something I love sharing with my own children and hopefully yours. Manners, proper nutrition, vocabulary, music and motor skills are all huge things that I will be helping implement into your childrens lives. I know it's hard to find the proper fit for your children and that it is very scary to leave your children in someone elses care, but as a mother I will tell you that your childrens

development and safety will be our top priority

About Us

We are two outgoing, bubbly and reliable people who relocated to the beautiful Oregon coast to not only be with family,
but continue a dream of buisness ranching.

We both have a strong passion for children. Kim has vast experience growing up and caring for children and now has two very vibrant kids who love to be surrounded by other children.

Chandra has been in the childcare industry for more than 7 years, being both Montessori trained and rounded with several other types of childcare facilities.

We believe in the same philosophy as Maria Montessori, which allows the child to be free to express themselves and learn from experience as well as grow to be independent.

Examples of these are learning to clean up after themselves; folding, gardening, washing or putting away paint brushes, crayons etc. as well as learning to interact and grow with other children.

When learning, we as adults give the child tools to try and solve equations, such as; giving an equation 10-3=? ..counting out 10 m&m's and telling the child to take away 3 and count the remaining left. For younger children practicing zipping or buttoning a sweater, or tieing a shoe.

Chandra Stevens

I am 24 years old, originally from Placerville, California but grew up right here in Astoria before relocating to Las Vegas in 2004.

I have been in the childcare industry for over 7 years. I have worked for the kindercare learning corporation as well as learning and growing with the Montessori school I taught at for 5 years.

I have experience with children ages 0-14. I have in the past worked with special needs children and large groups. I have been a nanny for 4 different families full time, and remain in contact with all of them.

I prefer working more closely with children in the 'nanny' aspect as it allows a stronger bond and friendship with the child and their family. In most recent times I worked for a fantastic company called Zappos Inc.

I have now decided to relocate to Astoria, and follow my dreams of running a ranch and working with children.

I am a very easy going person, I strive for learning through experiences and "field trips" not just sitting inside the home and doing traditional "paper based work" or television. I believe hands on learning will benefit the child as he or she grows and steps into the world of elementary schooling and It is our responsibility as adults to guide and lead by example for our youth.
